Indian Institute of Psychodrama (IIP)

Indian Institute of Psychodrama (IIP) is the first formal institute teaching Psychodrama in the country. This institute is an affiliate member of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Process (IAGP) since 2009. The founder and director, Magdalene Jeyarathnam is an elected member and serves as a member of  the board of directors of IAGP since 2018. IIP will enable those interested in Psychodrama to receive training, certification to practice skills under supervision and to gain experience applying these methods in clinical or non clinical settings. This institute has been awarding students training hours for attending psychodrama workshops since 2009. Also, this institute provides three levels of Psychodrama training on par with other international organizations. Indian Institute of Psychodrama (IIP) has registered under the companies act 1956 (No.1 of 1956) in 2013. IIP has also been recognized as a member of the American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama for its commitment to Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. Magdalene Jeyarathnam received her training under Dr Herb Propper and Sue Daniel from 2008 and 2011 respectively. She was certified from Psychodrama institute of Melboure in 2016. She began to train to be supervisor and trainer soon after and completed this training under Dr Herb Propper in 2020. Magdalene has expereince as a group therapist for the last 30 years and will be completing her PhD in 2024. Her theses is on treating depression and anxiety with Expressive therapies including psychodrama in India.

Our Vision

It is our vision to provide affordable Psychodrama training for people in South and South East Asia. Also, it is our vision to create an Indian board which will certify psychodramatists who are trained in India.

Our Mission

Promote the use of Psychodrama: dramatization and role-playing as a therapeutic tool for the purpose for reaching human potentia.

OBJECTIVES

1)To organise certified courses, Workshops , Seminars in Psychodrama in collaboration with reputed psychodrama institutes.

2) To conduct examinations and be the examination center to certify students completing the required hours of training and practice from any part of the world, particularly south east Asia where there are no examination centers for psychodrama.

3) To create an interest in psychodrama among the general public working along side accredited institutions.
