Dr Herb Propper Memorial Psychodrama Training Workshops Facilitated by Dr Magdalene Jeyarathnam

The Dr Herb Propper Memorial Workshops are a series of experiential Online psychodrama workshops in India rooted in the core methods of psychodrama. Facilitated by Dr Magdalene Jeyarathnam, this series invites participants to engage deeply with foundational psychodrama tools that support self-awareness, relational understanding, and creative movement toward change. Each workshop is designed to awaken curiosity, encourage reflection, and offer learning through experience rather than theory alone.

Why the Dr Herb Propper Memorial Workshops? 

 The Dr Herb Propper Memorial Workshops are offered in remembrance of Dr Herb Propper, a senior psychodramatist, trainer, and mentor whose contribution to psychodrama training in India was profound and foundational. From 2009 to 2018, Dr  Herb Propper served as the Primary Trainer at the Indian Institute of Psychodrama, the first formal psychodrama training institute in India. At a time when there was no other consistent or structured psychodrama training available in the country, Dr Herb played a pioneering role in establishing and sustaining psychodrama education in India. Through his teaching, he shaped the training programme and mentored generations of practitioners. From 2018 to 2020, he continued as the Resident Trainer, offering sustained teaching, supervision, and guidance. It was Dr Herb Propper who introduced psychodrama to Dr Magdalene Jeyarathnam, and his influence continues to live on through her work, teaching, and facilitation. 

These memorial workshops are a way to Honour Dr Herb Propper’s legacy and teachings, to keep core psychodrama tools alive through experiential learning. These workshop create space for reflection, integration, and growth To all psychodrama trainees in India. The workshops also Offer practitioners and learners across the helping professions a meaningful learning experience. Though this series the spirit depth and relational wisdom of herb continue to be remembered embodied and carriage forward

Sociometry Workshop – January 14, 2026

How do we experience belonging? What shapes our choices, attractions, and distances in groups?


Sociometry brings to light the invisible relational patterns that exist in every group. Through movement and action, participants explore how connections are formed, how isolation is felt, and how relationships influence our sense of self. This workshop invites participants to experience group dynamics from within, offering insight into connection, choice, and relational presence.

Role Inventory Toolkit Workshop – February 6, 2026

We live our lives through roles some we step into with ease, some that feel restrictive, and others that remain unexplored and this workshop invites participants to examine the roles they occupy in personal and professional contexts. Through experiential processes, participants identify dominant roles, neglected roles, and emerging possibilities. The Role Inventory Toolkit of herb supports greater understanding , spontaneity, and choice, opening space for growth and renewed vitality.

Social Atom Workshop –  February 13, 2026 

What does your emotional world look like? Who holds significance in it and how close do they feel?

The Social Atom offers a way to explore one’s relational universe by mapping meaningful connections, emotional distances, conflicts, and losses. Through this process, participants gain clarity about how relationships shape feelings, patterns, and responses. This workshop creates space for recognition, emotional insight, and gentle re-organisation of relational patterns.

Future Projection Workshop – February 20,  2026 

What if you could step into the future and experience it—before it arrives?


Future Projection allows participants to explore possible futures through action. By stepping into imagined future roles and situations, participants encounter hopes, fears, questions, and choices that influence the present. This workshop supports clarity, courage, and readiness for change, offering a chance to rehearse new ways of being.
